My name is Adrienne and this began as my senior capstone project. At Miami University, I double majored in Professional Writing and Emerging Technology in Business and Design––and yes, I know that’s a mouthful. These two areas of study have allowed me to combine my love of writing with the digital world in a way that has cultivated my larger interest in communicating with people.

I’ve been a writer for as long as I can remember. That love for writing, of course, derived from reading. My favorite texts span from scientific articles and essays, to poetry and classic novels because of the myriad knowledge I can take away from any genre. I will never stop reading, writing, speaking, and listening because I believe that one of the best ways to learn is by communicating.

Communication is the root of this project. I love learning and I think conversations are such a good way to do that. The people, places, issues, and events of the world are what drive me to learn. These stories are happening all around us, all the time, and I believe everyone should have the opportunity to hear them.

I also think that some of the stories we hear aren’t as accessible as they should be. There’s a lot happening out there that so many people––myself included––aren’t aware of. I want to learn about these things and share them with other people, too.

So, this project is an experiment in storytelling. As a writer, my goal is to remain objective in my voice. This project isn’t about my personal perspective, it’s about trying to inform people about different topics and events in a comprehensive, transparent, and conversational way. I’m not a scientist, a reporter, or a politician, but I am someone who cares. This is my attempt at a different kind of journalism––one that tells the story. It’s not a matter of right or wrong, better or worse. It’s a matter of learning. Because there is always more to learn.
